Discover Jesus

A two-letter word, “Go”, changed my life forever, and launched me into a ministry reaching millions with the gospel. I was a teenager when I read, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature”, (Mk 16:15). “Go” seemed to leap off the page, and I know it meant I could not remain as I was; go meant a change of location, direction and final destination. Several years later God spoke again in a vision about world evangelism, but it was this scripture from the gospel of Mark, and the tiny word, “Go”, that changed my life. At the time I was student council president in my high school, doing great academically, but the word from God changed my outlook, my interests and my pursuits.

One word from God created the universe, and His word has the power to shape our world. Jesus appears as “the Word” in the first few verses of the Bible, “in the beginning Elohim (God), created the heavens and the earth”. Elohim, the plural of Eloh, gives an immediate hint of a triune God; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. A few verses later this plurality is confirmed as God says, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness”, (Gen. 1:26).

The first page of the Bible reveals at least three aspects of Jesus; He is The Creator, The Word andThe Light.

Jesus is the Creator because, “All things were made through Him”, (John 1:13), and “by Him all things were created… through Him and for Him”, (Col. 1:16).

Jesus is the Word, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”, and this “Word became flesh and lived among us”, (John 1:1,14). The book of Hebrews tells us, “The worlds were framed by the word of God”, (11:3).

When God said, “Let there be light”, (Gen. 1:3), that light points to Him, who is the Light of the world, and who lights the path of every person.
Here is where it gets exciting. God’s word is more than sentences, paragraphs and ink on paper; Jesus personifies the creative Word that brings light into our world. Suddenly scriptures like, “He sent His word to heal”, and “His word is health to all my flesh”, take on a brand new meaning; Jesus heals, Jesus is health to all my flesh. All the creativity, direction and guiding light I need are in Him.

That tiny word “Go” became creative to me and brought light into my world, but that was only a beginning. Every day I live by His word.

The scripture is alive, exciting and empowering, because every day in the God’s sixty-six books, called the Bible, is a treasure hunt to discover more of Him, who is Creator, Word and Light to me.

Ordet “Gå” verkade hoppa upp från texten och jag insåg att det innebar att jag inte kunde förbli som jag var; gå innebar att jag måste förflytta mig, byta riktning och slutdestination. Flera år senare talade Gud igen i en vision om världens evangelisering, men det var detta bibelord från Markus evangelium och det lilla ordet, “Gå”, som förändrade mitt liv. På den tiden var jag elevrådets ordförande i min skola, klarade mina akademiska studier bra, men ordet från Gud ändrat min syn, mina intressen och mina sysselsättningar.

Ett ord från Gud skapade universum och Hans ord har makt att forma vår värld. Jesus omtalas som “Ordet” i de första verserna i Bibeln, “i begynnelsen skapade Elohim (Gud) himmel och jord”. Elohim, (Eloh i plural), ger en omedelbar antydan om en treenig Gud; Fadern, Sonen och den Helige Ande. Några versar senare bekräftas pluraliteten när Gud säger: ” Låt oss göra människor till vår avbild, till att vara lika oss”, (1 Mos 1:26).

Den första sidan i Bibeln uppenbarar minst tre aspekter av Jesus, Han är Skaparen, Ordet och Ljuset.
Jesus är Skaparen, eftersom “allt har blivit till genom Honom”, (Joh 1:3), och ” i Honom skapades allt… genom Honom och till Honom “, (Kol 1:16).

Jesus är Ordet, “I begynnelsen var Ordet, och Ordet var hos Gud, och Ordet var Gud” och detta “Ordet blev kött och bodde bland oss”, (Joh 1:1,14). Hebreerbrevet säger: “världen har skapats genom ett ord från Gud”, (11:3).

När Gud sade “Varde ljus”, (Mos 1:3), pekar det på Honom, som är världens Ljus och som lyser upp vägen för varje person.

Det är här som det blir spännande. Guds ord är mer än meningar, stycken och bläck på papper; Jesus personifierar det skapande Ord som ger ljus i vår värld. Plötsligt får bibelord som “Han sände sitt Ord för att bota” och “Hans ord är hälsa för min kropp”, en helt ny innebörd; Jesus helar, Jesus är läkedom för hela min kropp. All den kreativitet, riktning och ledning jag behöver finns i Honom.
Det lilla ordet “Gå” blev skapande för mig och förde ljus in i min värld, men det var bara en början. Jag lever av Hans ord varje dag.
